The Palm Treo 700 range consists of Treo 700w, Treo 700p and Treo 700wx. Below, I have provided detailed discussions on each of these phones.
Treo 700w
The first in the series of Treo 700 phones, Treo 700w is the first Palm phone to offer Windows Mobile 5.0 OS unlike the previous models all of which use Palm OS. It has 128 MB non-volatile memory capacity, 240 x 240 (2”X2”) TFT touch screen display with over 65k colors, 1.3 mp camera with video capture capability, Intel XScale 213 MHz Processor and Bluetooth 1.2 wireless support. The Windows OS of the phone has been customized by Palm to make it more user-friendly and to bring on the legendary single-handed usability of Palm.
Well, the efforts have not gone in vain as the new customizations are going to delight even the most hard-core fans of Windows OS. The Today screen has been modified to include a number of information such as speed-dial buttons and to-do notifications. In short it will really go a long way to become the perfect PDA device for you. It also supports the high-speed EV-DO data network making net surfing quite fast.
Treo 700p
Treo 700p goes back to Palm OS and has many features in common with 700w. It gives Palm OS fans the opportunity to explore the magic of Treo 700. One improvement over 700w is the higher screen resolution and better color saturation due to which it is more suitable to watch videos or playing games. Incidentally, it is the first Palm OS smartphone that supports EV-DO. Like all Treo phones with Palm OS, it excels in single-handed operation.
Treo 700wx
Treo 700wx is the second Treo phone to use Windows OS. It retains the modifications that were made to Windows in 700w. One great feature is the 64 MB RAM that gives it a huge boost in memory. You will have a view-only access to PDF documents. The phone can transfer over WMA format music by using Microsoft Media Player. However, the 16-bit color 240 x 240 TFT touch screen display is a downgrade from the 320 x 320 display of Treo 700p.
