Treo 700 Series
Palm Treo 700 series consist of three different models. After the success of the Treo 600 series, let us see what these phones have to offer to the users.
Palm Treo 700w brings together Palm technology and Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating System. Palm has introduced a number of improvements to the Windows OS. Because of this, it has become much easier to dial the phone.
Treo 700w comes with the characteristic gray and silver casing of Palm phones. On the upper part there are LED display, an antenna and a silencer, which switches the phone to silent mode at the press of a button. The phone is powered by1800 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery.
Treo 700p again offers Palm OS. The look and feel is quite similar to 700w except for the casing is grayer and with subtler silver finish. It has almost similar functionalities as Treo 700w, such as 1.3 mp camera with 2x zoom, video camera, Bluetooth, 128 MB volatile memory, 320X320 display and so on and so forth.
It is the first phone with Palm OS that features EV-DO high-speed wireless data, which gives it a definite edge over previous Palm phones. This not only makes the data processing faster but also allows you to take calls even when connected to Internet.
Palm 700wx again is very similar to 700w except that it offers only Windows Mobile 5.0. Again Palm has taken the liberty to add some of its own features to Widows OS making it more convenient for the users. The 700wx also supports SD, SDIO and MMC expansion cards. One improvement is that it supports Wi-Fi SD card unlike the previous versions.
All three phones look quite similar except for some minor detailing and the major differences are in the operating systems they use. They are priced around $500 with different carriers offering different discounts on the retail price.
Another thing you must keep in mind is that even though 700w supports EV-DO, it is reported to be slower than the other two. Also, 700wx can be doubled up as a wireless modem, but not all carriers offer this feature. If you are a Palm fan, you should definitely check out one of these three phones, which combine practical features and smart technology.
