The treo 700 Start menu is the main method of switching between apps, returning to your Today screen, and getting to your settings. Take a moment to consider what you do the most, and then optimize the Start menu to help you do those things. The little time your spend setting it up has a big payback in speed and convenience. Choose Help from the Start menu while in a specific program and it will show only the Help files associated with that program.
One more than seven  Select Start>Settings>Personal tab>Menus to choose which apps appear in the Start menu. Check the boxes and press OK. Seven choices are allowed. If you uncheck the Help listing, eight apps can appear, but you’ll have go to Settings>Programs to open Help. You’ll also lose the context-sensitive attributes of Help when it disappears from the Start menu.
Recently open Recently used apps are probably running in the background. Press and hold the OK button to see a list of running apps.
Calendar button Option + Start button is the default key combo to open Calendar from anywhere.
Start menu escape If you accidentally open the Start menu, press Start again to close it.
Almost alphabetical   The treo 700 Today screen is always first on the list of the Start menu. Everything else is alphabetically arranged. Programs, Settings, and the Today screen cannot be removed from the menu.
A place for everything In Windows Mobile, apps are kept either in the Programs directory or in the Start menu, but not both. Settings are kept in the Settings directory. Use the Start menu to access your treo 700 settings and those programs not listed in the Start menu.
Coordinate with your Today screen Some things are worth repeating, so decide whether you need a Calendar link in the Today screen as well as on the Start menu, for example. Synchronization is automatic when your treo 700 is plugged in or when you sync wirelessly, so there’s little need to put ActiveSync in the Start menu.
Coordinate with your buttons Some apps like Messaging have their own buttons. Others have predefined key combinations (Option + Phone/Start opens Explorer). Do such apps really need to be on your Start menu as well?
